Privacy
Privacy policy.
TruePace Run is a small independent running calculator and editorial site. This policy explains what data is handled, what is not stored by the calculator, and how advertising cookies may be used.
Who controls this site
TruePace Run is published by Robin Langdon. For privacy questions, correction requests or concerns about this policy, email hello@truepacerun.net.
TruePace Run is intentionally lightweight. It does not currently offer user accounts, paid memberships, comments, newsletters, saved profiles or server-side race-history storage.
Calculator data and result links
The calculator runs in your browser. At this stage, TruePace Run does not store your race result, age, gender or calculated output in a database.
Calculator links can include distance, time, age and gender in the URL so a result can be reopened or shared. That link is created in your browser and does not create a user account or server-side profile.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site may use the following categories of cookies or similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary technologies: used where needed to load and secure the site.
- Consent technologies: used to remember advertising and cookie choices where a consent message is required.
- Advertising technologies: used by Google AdSense and its partners to serve, personalise and measure ads where permitted.
- Analytics technologies: not currently used as a separate analytics product. If that changes, this policy should be updated first.
- Personalisation technologies: not used by TruePace Run for site accounts or profiles, but Google advertising services may use personalisation where allowed by your consent and Google settings.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
TruePace Run uses the Google AdSense review script and may use Google AdSense to support the site. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, personalise and measure ads.
Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can read more about how AdSense uses cookies and manage Google ad personalisation through My Ad Center. Browser settings may also let you block or delete cookies.
Consent management
For visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, TruePace Run should use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform before serving advertising that requires consent. The consent message should let visitors accept, reject or manage advertising choices.
Consent can be withdrawn or changed through the consent-management controls once the certified CMP is live. Until that production CMP is verified, TruePace Run should not treat AdSense consent compliance as complete.
Legal bases
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, TruePace Run relies on:
- Consent for advertising cookies, personalised ads and similar non-essential storage where required.
- Legitimate interests for operating, securing and maintaining a simple public website, provided those interests do not override your rights.
- Legal obligation where the site must comply with a lawful request or applicable rule.
TruePace Run does not claim legitimate interest as the basis for personalised advertising where consent is required.
What is stored and for how long
TruePace Run does not directly store calculator entries, shared results, names, email addresses or health data through the calculator. If you email the site, your email address and message are retained as long as needed to reply and keep reasonable records of the contact.
Google and advertising vendors may process identifiers, cookie data, IP address, device information and ad-interaction data according to their own policies and your consent choices. Their retention periods are controlled by those providers, not by the calculator.
International transfers
TruePace Run is available internationally. Google and other technology providers may process data in countries outside the UK or EEA, including the United States. Where required, those providers are responsible for using appropriate transfer mechanisms for their processing.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to or receive a copy of personal data held about you. You may also have the right to withdraw consent for non-essential cookies or advertising personalisation.
Because the calculator is client-side and does not create accounts, TruePace Run may have little or no direct personal data about you unless you contact the site by email. To exercise a right, email hello@truepacerun.net. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
TruePace Run is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal data directly to the site, contact hello@truepacerun.net.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes, especially if new advertising, consent or analytics tools are added. The policy should reflect what the site actually does, not what a generic website might do.
